Bidding for CPEC western route begins, set to be included in upcoming JCC meeting

Chairman CPEC Authority Lt. General (Retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has informed that bidding process for road Zhob to Kuchlak(Quetta) part of CPEC Western route is underway while Dera Ismail Khan-Zhob section is being processed to be included in the upcoming meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of CPEC. The National Highway Authority (NHA) has invited bids from eligible firms registered with Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for dualization of Kuchlak -Zhob section of N-50. After completion, Islamabad and Quetta would be connected through an expressway.

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Asim Saleem Bajwa on Sunday said that the bidding process for a part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor’s (CPEC) western route is underway.

The part of the CPEC’s western route includes Zhob-Kuchlak (Quetta) road.

Asim Saleem Bajwa said that the project is direly needed by the people of Balochistan, in a tweet on Sunday.

He further informed that the matter pertaining to Chinese funding for Dera Ismail Khan to Zhob section of CPEC’s western route was being processed to be included in the upcoming meeting of Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of CPEC.

He added that the completion of this 210 kilometre (km) project would connect Islamabad and Quetta through an expressway.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has already invited bids from eligible firms for the 298 km Kuchlak to Zhob section of N-50.

The project will be completed in five packages including 65 km Zhob to Tangi section, 65 km Tangi to Qila Saifullah section, 50 km Qilla Saifullah to Nasai section, 65 km Nasai to Khanozai section and a 53 km Khanozai to Kuchlak section.
